Guwahati : The ruling BJP-led coalition in Assam is headed for a massive victory in the state as the BJP and its ally Asom Gana Parisahd (AGP) was in the lead in 10 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats till 12 noon. As per latest reports from the ECI, the BJP alone was in the driver’s seat in eight seats in the state.
AGP is leading in two seats,the third partner of the ruling coalition, Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), has, however, been facing oscillating fortunes in the lone seat of Kokrajhar that it is contesting and is currently placed in the second position.
The state’s main Opposition party, Congress, is in the lead only in Guwahati constituency, but it has been unable to achieve any significant lead in margin in the seat so far.
The other major Opposition party in the state, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), is leading in two seats, while regional United People’s Party (Liberal) is leading in one.
